Within this institutional framework, the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences of the University of Porto (FPCEUP) has played a central role in teacher education, educational research, and professional training over the last 45 years. FPCEUP is dedicated to the scientific study of education, learning, development, and teaching practices across the lifespan, with a particular focus on the social, ethical, and epistemological dimensions of educational processes. 

FPCEUP has a strong tradition in initial teacher education, continuous professional development, and educational research, especially in areas such as pedagogical innovation, curriculum studies, teacher professionalism, digital technologies in education, and critical reflection on educational policies and practices. The faculty values research-informed teaching and promotes close articulation between theory, empirical research, and educational practice. Through national and international projects, FPCEUP contributes actively to debates on the future of education, including the responsible and critical integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in teacher education and schooling.
